Following the move by the court to jail Grace Wakhungu and Sirisia MP John Waluke if they will not raise the Sh 1 Billion.
It is alleged that Grace Wakhungu’s family raised half a billion in 2 hours time just for her to be set free and on the other hand MP Waluke’s family appeals to the public to fundraise and set the MP free.
Grace Wakhungu the Ex-VP Moody Awori’s Sister evade 10 Years Jail Term after her family raise all the cash required.
The family has raised than Sh 0.8 Billion more than what is required to bailout their family member.
Grace Wakhungu’s daughter, Prof Judy Wakhungu is a former Environment Cabinet Secretary and currently Kenya’s ambassador to France.
She is also the sister to Dr Mary Okello the first female manager at Barclays Bank and founder-director of Makini Schools. A couple of years ago she sold the schools for over Ksh1 billion.
Her brother Dennis Awori is Kenya’s former ambassador to Japan, and a former chairman of Toyota EA, managing director of Lonrho EA and also general manager of CMC in Kenya and Uganda.
He also served as the chairman of Kenya Airways, among other several companies in Kenya.
Other siblings include Christine Hayanga, a lawyer married to Justice Andrew Hayanga, Henry Awori, one-time Kenya’s Commissioner of Insurance, Willis Awori, the HR Director, ICIPE, Engineer Ernest Awori, Winfred Odera, Margaret Openda, Wycliffe Awori and the Late Joshua Awori.
She is aunt to the current Absa Bank CEO Jeremy Awori.
With such people surrounding her, and many more not mentioned here, the slightly over Ksh1 billion fine could look like a light-duty to the family, as compared to the jail term.
