After residing at the house of one of his followers for a whole week, a self-proclaimed prophet by the name of Jacob Wekesa has found himself on the wrong side of the law.
A man who adheres to the Legion of Mary sect and who claims that he can identify issues with women’s reproductive health using his spiritual sight is now being prosecuted for defilement-related offences at a court in Nakuru. The case is being heard by the court.
The court has determined that he is guilty of raping both of his host’s daughters, even though he has disputed the allegations.
His difficulties started on the first day of the new year when he went to the house of one of his followers, Ms Sara Atieno, in the Njoro sub-county, to pray with her.
The mother, who already had two grown kids, greeted him with open arms and offered to be his host for some time. On January 5, 2023, adult misconduct that the 66-year-old man is accused of doing against the two ladies took place while he was a guest at the hotel.
Mr Wekesa is accused of having purposefully engaged in bodily activity with the two ladies at the golf estate without their will, even though he denies having done so. The allegations against him are stated in the accusations that have been brought against him.
One of the victims who testified in front of the court claimed that the man her mother brought to her house claimed to be a prophet of the Legion of Mary and was blind.
She claims a room was provided for the guy in the building next to their home.
On the day in issue, at eleven o’clock at night, the guy invited the woman into his room and informed her that, using his spiritual eyes, he could see that she could not have children.
The fact that the woman had swelling around her waist, which she believed may be the reason for her infertility, made it easy for the guy to trick her into falling for his ploy.
“It was about 11 p.m. when he told me to turn off the light, take off my clothes, and jump on the bed so that he could massage the swelling on my waist while reminding me that I might not be able to have a child,” the lady recalled him saying. “He massaged the swelling on my waist while reminding me that I might not be able to have a child.”
The guy then proceeded to aggressively touch her, and, before long, he climbed on top and assaulted her as she was lying on his bed. He warned her not to scream and assured her that she would be healed. Though it was not consented to, the complainant kept quiet until the act was completed.
The magistrate has set the date for the sentence for June 6. Kenyans have been cautioned to exercise extreme caution should they allow themselves to be taken advantage of by fraudulent preachers who pose as religious leaders.
