Frustrated clients of Total Energies have petitioned the company’s top leadership to investigate happenings at its Parkland marketing branch and establish possible corruption in the issuance of pre-paid fuel cards.
There are fears that the pre-paid card system could be going under in what could emerge as a deadly money heist involving millions of shillings on card issuance game.
Apparently, a number of clients feel scammed after paying the card’s processing fee, only to experience complete frustration. They have appealed to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to intervene and investigate whether it could be a case of obtaining money through false pretences.
For the individual pre-paid fuel card, you pay Sh1000 to the company’s till number. While the company should collect the card within five days of payment, some victims have yet to receive their cards more than a month after application.
Smooth-talking representatives continue to make false promises, leaving them vulnerable. One of the victims, Jared, offered to speak and confirmed the worrying allegations.
“It’s been almost one month since I applied for my card. Interestingly, they told me it would take three days, but I have been waiting and making futile follow-up calls,” expressed a dejected Jared.
The representatives appeared to have mastered the art of expressing concern and empathy towards the victims, well aware that their calls were being recorded for quality purposes.
Eventually, every representative on the phone would promise to handle the matter with Isabella, only to vanish from sight. They’ve been calling without assistance. The company has turned away hundreds of people who applied for the same position.
