The latest appeal that the famous Ugandan preacher Prophet Samuel Kakande of Life Changing Ministries made to his audience caused a lot of uproar online. People had different opinions after his appeal to congregants.
In a surprising turn of events, he has asked each member to donate KSh39,000 to help buy a Range Rover, an expensive SUV that costs KSh10 million. He wanted the congregants to fulfil his ego and wishes before his timely death.
Prophet Kakande posted the request through commercials, asking church members to help pay for the car.
Some in his group thought that this demand was strange or even fearless, but others seemed to react constructively, in line with their conviction that caring for their leader’s wishes would bring them good things in return.
Prophet Kakande told people about it in a video broadcast and gave them until April 14, 2024, to send their donations.
“Listen up, everyone who loves Prophet Kakande. He plans to buy a new car. Everyone has agreed to buy this recently released car. It’s a Range Rover. You’ve seen it; it’s just a simple car,” Kakande said.
Kakande also promised those who backed him that their hard work would be recognised by saying that everyone who took part in the offering would get a new car the same year.
“We’re all going to give $300 because we know God will do great things for us. This money will be brought in on April 14, 2024. This year, all of us who take part in this reward are buying new cars,” Kakande said.
Kakande says that the KSh39,000 gift is not just an exchange of money but an investment in how they feel psychologically and spiritually. He stressed that the investment went both ways by saying, “You invest in mine, and may God invest in yours.”
People from outside the country could send $300, and Kakande offered the option of sending a prayer card for the vehicle’s blessing in exchange.
