Josephine Akinyi, 33 burnt on her chest and other parts over Chama Money in Homabay

 

 

Josephine Akinyi, 33, is sustaining severe wounds in hospital after a dispute with her husband over a merry-go-round cash distribution that became violent in Kachien Village, Homa Bay.

Bystanders say Josephine Akinyi was burnt with hot oil on the chest and thighs after quarrelling on who was to receive the monthly contribution.

The Kachien North Chief Jacob Adienge confirmed the event, saying the suspect and the victim had both laid stakes to the chama money.

The two reportedly got into an argument that quickly degenerated into a nasty fisticuff.

The area chief additional said that the suspect then flitted a pan from which potato chips were cooking and poured the hot oil on the victim.

Akinyi was rushed to Nyalgosi dispensary for first aid before being referred to the Rachuonyo South Sub County hospital for more treatment.

The chief says that police have begun a manhunt for the suspect who disappeared immediately after the incident.
