Kangemi fire – Fire razed down hundreds of houses in Kangemi slums

Inferno razes down several commercial houses in Kangemi. The fire is alleged to have started in one of the houses near a faulted transformer.

Hundreds of houses were on Thursday evening burnt down hit hard the Kangemi Beach slums in Nairobi County.

One person was reportedly wounded in the incident that started at about 5 PM.

However, the residents claim that the fire was caused by a gas cylinder that exploded in one of the houses which were near a transformer.

Some of the people hit by the incident say that they were unable to retrieve anything from the fire.

Firefighters came at the scene more than an hour after being alerted.
