Madungu police constable Dennis Gitonga shot himself on the head over stress -Ugunja

A police constable Dennis Gitonga based at the Madungu police patrol base in Ugunja shot himself on Monday morning allegedly that he was undergoing depression.

Dennis Gitonga reportedly shot himself in the neck, nursing severe wounds.

According to Ugunja Sub-county Police Commander Mr Lazarus Taarus, other officers based at the patrol base heard a gunshot and on rushing out, found their colleague on the floor.

His gun lay beside him.

The officer was then rushed to the nearby Ambira sub-county hospital but died while on the way to the Siaya County Referral Hospital.

His body was moved to the Ambira sub-county hospital Mortuary.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
