After violently storming a church in the middle of a service and attacking the pastors for delivering him a false prophecy, a 26-year-old man was detained.
In May 2023, he allegedly attacked Prophet Anayochukwu, the pastor of one of the New Generation Churches, after which he fled.
At the church’s headquarters, the suspect is accused of committing the crime while worship was taking place.
He was upset with the pastor because he supposedly predicted that his sister would pass away by January 2023 during a time of prayer. The man of God’s statement, according to Akpannu, made him fearful.
In addition to his sister’s impending death, the suspect said that a different preacher had told him to undergo a spiritual cleansing that required him to purchase a coconut and dry gin in order to pray for commercial success, which never came about.
Akpannu was determined to enforce the rule because he was tired of prophecies that never came to fruition. He barged into the church and brandished a cutlass at Prophet Anayochukwu.
Following a police report, the suspect was located and taken into custody. He admitted to the investigators that he was terrified by the false prophecies, particularly the one that said his sister would die.
