An incident occurred in Mutuati, Igembe North, where Mr. Mugambi, a teacher at a local school, Leeta, set his estranged wife’s Toyota ProBox full of tomatoes on fire in the early hours of the morning.
The teacher allegedly set fire after learning that his estranged wife was seeing one of his friends, a teacher at a nearby school.
Before performing the heinous act, Mr. Mugambi passed by a local joint and got intoxicated. The probox is believed to belong to the aforementioned lover.
The couple had been in quarrels following allegations of infedility from the husband, who accused his wife of seeing someone else, which led to the marriage splitting.
The neighbour asserts that the teacher has been involved in frequent arguments with his friend, whom he suspects is dating his wife.
The village elder, who led the case, asserts that he advised Mr. Mugambi to endure the pain of being married to the woman for more than six years.
