According to a recent survey in Mombasa, former Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko is the most popular contender in the gubernatorial campaign in Mombasa.
According to Radio Africa Limited Polls, Sonko, who will be running on a Wiper Democratic Movement ticket, is dominating with 45.6 percent of the vote.
Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir of the ODM came in second with 31.5 percent of the vote.
Hassan Omar, a UDA candidate, is in third place with 12.1 percent. Other contenders were selected by 0.7 percent of survey participants, while 5.4 percent were uncertain. 4.7 percent of those polled stated they would not vote.
They said that the results were rigged because Sonko will fail to succeed as governor of Mombasa following his unceremonious impeachment as Nairobi governor in December 2020.
“How can people be persuaded to vote for Sonko if this is clearly false?” Dan Rono wondered.
“Parliamentary business demonstrated that Omar and Abdulswamad are more capable leaders. J.K. tweeted, ” It appears Sonko’s liberal use of money will buy him excellence.”
