On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, a Mombasa court heard a case against a chemist for purportedly forcing a minor to get an abortion.

On June 3, 2023, it is alleged that the suspect, Amos Nzioki, assisted a 15-year-old girl who had become pregnant via defilement in getting an abortion.

According to a report, Nzioki committed the crime in his private pharmacy in Tudor after inducing the juvenile with a variety of medications, resulting in the loss of the pregnancy. Mombasa Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku learned this information through the report.

The minor’s parents reported the incident after doctors at Coast General Hospital confirmed the abortion procedure.

Part of the statement said that “the girl’s guardian notified the police about what happened after the abortion had been verified on examination by doctors.”

Since then, police have started looking for the guy who is suspected of defiling and impregnating the little girl.

Nzioki entered a not-guilty plea to the allegations and was given a choice between a cash bail of Ksh200,000 or a Ksh300,000 bond with one guarantor of a comparable sum.
