According to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, the legal action taken by lawyer Steve Ogolla on behalf of former IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati against Azimio Chief Raila Odinga would result in nothing.

On Wednesday, Sifuna said on Twitter that “apart from legal bills, nothing more will come from that legal journey.”

“Steve Ogolla is just engaging in what professionals do best—assisting Chebukati in spending the huge retirement sum that the taxpayer provided,” added the senator.

This happened after city lawyer Steve Ogolla sent a demand letter to Raila asking for the release of video evidence of the former chairman’s visit to Raila’s home.

Raila said at the Sunday Jacaranda rally that Chebukati and former Commissioners Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu came to his house before the general elections. In response, Ogolla promised to bring charges against Raila on Chebukati’s behalf.

The Azimio chief further said that he had evidence that the commissioners had requested him for a little favor.

Chebukati, however, refuted Raila’s allegations.

The letter states, “Our instructions are to demand from you, as of right, which we thus do, that you give us the purported video evidence within seven days after the date hereof, in light of your accusations and the fact that our client is fighting hard against them.”

Ogolla will seek to file a lawsuit against Raila if the seven days he was given to submit the video footage elapse without him doing so.
