Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has published Saturday, October 10 a public holiday designated Huduma Day.
In a press release, CS Fred Matiang’i said the celebration would be commemorated through national prayers that will highlight service and volunteerism to the community.
“Kenyans are urged to participate in the prayers and promote national unity, social justice, cohesion and sustainable development in their communities for the benefit of present and future generations,” he said.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is listed to lead the nation in an inter-faith national prayer service on Saturday.
State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena added the Head of State has devoted October 9-11 a national weekend of prayer.
The prayer service will take place at State House, Nairobi from 10 am and will be live on all leading television, radio and digital media platforms.
In December last year, the Cabinet approved the renaming of Moi Day to Huduma Day. Kenyans have been urged to Pray for the Nation.
