Pherine Maero, the 32-year-old woman who poisoned her two children, aged 7 and 9, in Kakamega’s Mwiyala region, appeared joyful on social media.

Maero, a nurse in Kakamega County, is accused of committing the crime before summoning her husband to come to pick up the youngsters’ bodies.
She is also accused of slicing herself in the neck with a knife in an attempt to commit suicide.
Maero was described by neighbours who spoke to the press as a very hot-tempered and unstable wife whose actions caused her husband to forsake them.
She damaged her husband’s car with stones at the apartment they shared at one time.
Neighbours also reported that the two were often involved in fierce disagreements and domestic brawls.
Her husband was forced to leave their suffocating marriage, leaving Maero to raise their two children alone.
Maero is in serious condition at a local hospital after attempting suicide, while the bodies of her deceased children are kept at the Kakamega County General Teaching & Referral Hospital mortuary.
She appeared to be cheerful in the photographs she shared on social media, but she was suffering from despair and mental disorders.
