Mwangi Kiunjuri, the leader of the Service Party, has enraged Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance by asking the Mt Kenya area to choose anybody they choose for the presidential term.
During a discussion with Inooro TV on Wednesday evening, Kiunjuri advised the Mt Kenya area to concentrate on the contenders’ leadership talents rather than the parties with which they are competing.
“People from Laikipia County and the Mount Kenya region should elect leaders rather than parties. Choose the president you want and then look for leaders for the other seats,” Kiujuri said in a chat with Inooro TV on Wednesday evening.
Former Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue has been a strong supporter of Deputy President William Ruto’s candidacy.
Kiunjuri expressed fears over being left out of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance’s decision-making process.
Ruto’s UDA, Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC, and Moses Wetangula’s Ford Kenya are among the 14 political parties that make up Kenya Kwanza.
He said that some factions were kept out of the loop and disregarded when it came to campaigning, which he suggested could endanger Ruto’s ambition for the top job.
Kiunjuri also criticized the Kenya Kwanza Alliance’s backing for the six-party vote call, claiming that they were not speaking on behalf of the party’s presidential candidate, Deputy President William Ruto.
Mr Kiunjuri stated that until Dr Ruto speaks out on the issue, any other statements made by other leaders in the alliance are meaningless.
“We are aware and acknowledge that we are in rivalry not only with our sisters and brothers in Kenya Kwanza Alliance but with all other aspirants seeking the same seats as we are.
” An active democracy is enhanced by intra completion within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance and the rest of the competitors extremely in this General Election,” Mr Kiunjuri explained.
