Police in Mwingi, Kitui County, have detained a coworker who is accused of stabbing a school bursar over a dispute about tuition.

The Mwingi Boys Secondary School, where his son attended, was the location where Haji Boru visited on Monday to request a cash return of additional funds that had been provided via the Constituency Development Fund, according to Mwingi Central OCPD Peter Mutuma (CDF).

When Mr Boru was told that the money could only be moved to his son’s college fees account, Alex Mwanzia, the bursar, caused a commotion.

The accounts controller was apparently stabbed by the police just below his left armpit. He has been taken to a nearby private hospital as he waits to provide a police statement.

While waiting to be charged, Boru is being detained at the Mwingi Police Station.
