Raila Odinga founded the “movement for defense of democracy” with a group of young rebels.
Mr. Odinga said that President William Ruto really “hijacked and subverted” the will of the people in order to win the August 9 national election. However, he did not provide any proof to back up this claim.
The Supreme Court ruled that Dr. Ruto’s election petition as president to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission was legal and rejected the Azimio la Umoja bid.
At a protest on Sunday in Kibera, the leader of the ODM party criticized President Ruto and Kenya Kwanza for running the country without caring about the people or its institutions.
He said President Ruto’s leadership was pushing more Kenyans into distress even after doing a great job of identifying the problems with hustlers and pledging a poor man’s country.
Mr. Odinga said that raising taxes was a trick that would make things worse for more Kenyans because of the rising cost of living.
President Ruto stated on Sunday that his government will continue to push for all Kenyans to pay taxes. Ruto lent his voice to Kenyans’ willingness to pay taxes.
The president reiterated that no one will be given a tax break and that everyone in Kenya, no matter their position, must be taxed.
In Raila’s opinion, youth will press the government to hear their complaints and protect their interests.
