Residents in Milimani area in Ngong protesting after collecting over 1,000 used condoms claimed to be leftovers on weekend merry-makers from Nairobi.

Village elders and Area chief had a meeting with area police chief Rashid Abdalla, Kenya Forest Department, Kenya Wildlife Service officers, and the residents after the raised concern.

Representatives of the residents’ Henry Kinuthia, told the police boss that more than 200 cars drive into the area every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for picnics.

Kinuthia said residents fear that their children, who tend their livestock around the picnic area may contract diseases.

“They also complained that youth from the villages around who sell sodas and sweets at the picnic may be exposed to sexual activities that seem to be the main agenda of the merrymakers,” Kinuthia said adding that the used condoms are at the Ngong Police station.

Due to Coronavirus, the residents said the picnic site may be a catalyst in the spread against the virus.
