Ruth Matete arrested as postmortem results on John Apewajoye await

Gospel artist Ruth Matete was on Tuesday questioned for six hours at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters over her husband’s controversial death.

The crime detectives followed her to collect samples from the house which is now being treated as a crime scene. However, most of the evidence had already gone as she alleged to have repainted her house.

The singer had recorded another statement with DCI detectives four days ago.

Her husband, John Apewajoye, sustained burn injuries at the home on March 30 and was rushed to Shalom Hospital then took him to the high dependency unit at Bellevue Hospital.

The husband postmortem will be done tomorrow to establish the true picture on his death.

The 42-year-old pastor, however, died to his injuries 12 days later.

Ruth published his death on her Facebook page saying: “My husband Beloved John Apewajoye has gone to be with the Lord. I humbly ask for your prayers during this difficult time.”
