The government’s commitment to assisting Kenyans who leave the country in search of employment overseas has been stated by President William Ruto.
Speaking on Sunday in Taita Taveta, the Head of State said that 1,000 Kenyans leave their country each week to work abroad.
“I’ve completed my work and am searching for employment overseas. I have arranged for people applying for jobs abroad to receive their passports within a week. We will cover the cost of the flights; they don’t even need money for tickets,” Ruto declared.
In order for young people to take benefit of jobs overseas, the president encouraged members of parliament to organise youths in their areas.
To combat youth unemployment, the Head of State has signed agreements with many nations, allowing Kenya to export its young labour force.
In addition to those that travel overseas, Ruto has also been interested in developing digital professions that allow young people to work remotely for foreign businesses.
Ruto pledged on May 26 to secure opportunities and investments, including 10,000 jobs for Kenyans abroad.
He claimed that under the proposal, 250,000 Kenyans will work overseas annually.
