Former Nakumatt stores in Mombasa have been taken over by South African stores venture Shoprite. Shoprite Ventures will invest in the old Nakumatt stores in Mombasa and soon open new stores Malindi and Vipingo(ShopRite Ridge Mall and Supermarket) in Kilifi county.
Centum investments partnered with Shoprite to construct a big mall and a supermarket closer to Vipingo ridge and golf club.
Mombasa governor Hassan Joho graced the Shoprite opening ceremony at the city mall last weekend.
Mombasa governor Hassan Joho said the county will continue to support and welcoming investors as it’s the only way to raise economic standards.
“We will continue to further foster an enabling business environment in Mombasa by implementing progressive policies and legislation while encouraging and forging closer ties and stronger bonds with the business community, ” governor Hassan Joho said.
