Kwale county governor Salim Mvurya says he has no time for Building bridges Initiative rallies but he will champion it at the grassroots as he endeavors his developments agendas saying the right bridges are built with equal developments.
” We can talk day and night that we are building bridges but when developments are on one region then people will no longer feel the bridges, ” he said.
” The only thing that Kenyans will feel they own this country is by creating opportunities for them and bringing better-living standards, ”
” Reducing tax and Increasing food based developments, housing and education based-developments is the only way to build better bridges, ” he added.
Governor Salim Mvurya had a meeting with National Land Commission on the Mwache project. He emphasized the need for fair and just valuation process.
” We welcome developments to open up opportunities for our people, however, we desire to have all processes involved to be implemented in a manner that its in a law-abiding and acceptable to all members involved, ” he said.
In the meeting, he was joined by the Kinango MP Hon Benjamin Tayari, Hon Dori and Kwale County Commissioner Karuku Ngumo.
Earlier, the governor handed over a contractor for the street lighting project worth 26million in Ukunda and Diani supported by both county and national government.

” We gazetted Ukunda and Kwale as municipalities and we have started to transform these towns, ” he added.
” We have also agreed to champion the BBI campaign across the 20 wards of Kwale as leaders. This is a unifying process that we verily support and we urge our citizens to read and understand the BBI document and give their input when the time comes, ” he said.
He was accompanied by Hon Suleman Dori and Hon Dalu Tayari.
The governor also gave a go-ahead on KES 58Million the last allocation for the Kombani Fresh Produce Market which progress is on course.
Earlier this week the governor launched a Solar power grid for both Mkwiro and Wasini islands together with world bank representative Mr Edward.
The project entails setting up a mini-grid in both areas and will cost 100 million and the project is expected to be ready in 6 months’ time the before distribution of electricity to over 300 households begins, which will also expect to take another 6 months.
” I want to extend my gratitude on behalf of the citizens and government to world bank for this support, which comes in handy at a time when we expect the Shimoni port project to commence, ” he said.
” I believe that once complete, this project will open up numerous opportunities especially to the locals and fishermen, ” he stated.
