On July 27, 2024, a multi-agency team acting on intelligence thwarted an Al Shabaab attack in Alango, which is located along Garissa-Dadaab Road in Garissa County. This was accomplished by a multi-agency intelligence team.
The militants, hiding out in a wooded region south of Alango, were carrying out an advanced stage of the attack, waiting for the right opportunity to launch their assault.
Nevertheless, security forces were able to foil their preparations, resulting in the immediate deaths of two Al Shabaab militants and the escape of others with less severe injuries.
The hideout yielded goods such as two AK-47 rifles, seven magazines, and equipment for constructing IEDs. Other items included a variety of food supplies.
Security teams are pursuing the extremists who are attempting to flee.
The security agencies are urging the general public to fervently urge security officers to disclose details about the injured suspects, should they come into sight.
