Ministry of Health had an emergency meeting with Governors to review on reasons why the number of virus-infected people had increased.
Martin Wambora, Chair, CoG said Ksh 4.2 Billion is owed to 6 counties for November, Ksh. 26 Billion owed to all 47 counties for January and February. The treasury urged to resolve the issue.
“We are currently dealing with the 3rd wave of COVID-19. All political gatherings should be halted for the next 30 days, ” he said.
However, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe also added on the vaccination saying already several counties have commenced vaccination of health and frontline workers.
” We are using a clear system to build data; the roll-out of the vaccine ensures transparency so that no one will raise questions regarding how COVID-19 vaccines are rolled out, ” he said.
“AstraZeneca has been approved by WHO, other vaccines have been submitted for WHO approval. There are established structures mandated to deal with the deployment of vaccines to the counties.
” We plan to vaccinate 15 million people countrywide by end of June 2023 in three phases. At 3 o’clock today, police will start undertaking the vaccine. Kenya is already in its 3rd wave. Today 10th March, 713 people have contracted the virus, 12 people succumbed to the virus,” the Cabinet Secretary added.
Yesterday, 479 people test positive for Covid-19 from 4,043 samples bringing the total caseload to 109,643; seven succumb to the virus as death-toll hits 1,886.
