Sand included in packages of wheat flour
OB NO. 13/11/11/2023 was used to register the case at the Madogo Police Station.
The scam victim, identified as Kelvin Edward, had purchased seven flour bales from Fatuma Issa, one of the perpetrators.
Upon arriving at his business, he discovered, however, that he had been given the incorrect goods.
An extract from a police investigation stated, “Upon arriving at his shop, he realized he had been duped and inside the packets was sand and not Ajab wheat flour.”
Officers responding to the plaintiff’s complaint conducted a raid on a leased home in the Adere neighbourhood. There, they discovered Fatuma and Tony Mokaya, her suspected collaborator, prepping additional packets for distribution to other unwary customers.
240 1-kilogram packages and three delivery-ready bundles were discovered by law enforcement officers during their operation.
Police conducted their investigation and put the accused in prison for arraignment.
In addition to entrepreneurs, scammers who want payment in exchange for their promises of delivery also prey on job seekers.
In another case, criminals deceiving job applicants are apprehended.
Two persons were detained by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) last month on suspicion of taking money from the general public under the guise of helping them find employment in Nairobi.
After defrauding gullible bystanders of KSh 880,000, the two culprits were apprehended along Ngong Road.
Following their deception of gullible citizens out of over Sh880,000, David Thuo Njehia and Kyalo Kilonzo were apprehended along Ngong Road, according to the DCI.
To lure Kenyans looking for work in state-run businesses and organizations, the accused pretended to be Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company workers.
The Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company had offered huge permanent and pensionable employment to a naive jobseeker. “Detectives pounced on the two moments before they received an additional KSh100,000,” the DCI stated.
The investigators said that the two were sought fraudsters because they had previously skipped bail for a related offence.
“It was discovered during questioning that the miscreants are repeat fraudsters who are sought by Dandora-based detectives after they had previously skipped bail for a related offence,” the DCI stated.
Thats long con game. Kenyans really looking for all means to make ends meet.
