Uasin Gishu youth burn Standard newspaper over claims it transmits Coronavirus. Just immediately after the standard newspaper reached Eldoret, youths descended on the newspapers and burned them.

Youth in Uasin Gishu have this morning set ablaze the Standard Newspapers over claims it transmits Coronavirus. The accusations come days after 2 cases were confirmed in Uasin Gishu with one reported to have contracted it after alleged buying the standard newspaper.

The company has also experienced a decline in sales recently forcing it to sent some employees on compulsory leave in the region. The remaining have seen their salary reduced by 50 per cent.

The burning of the Standard newspaper is also be linked to concerted efforts by the paper to paint DP Ruto in a bad light. The youths, however, say two newspapers have been used to peddle bad DP William Ruto’s image where Standard is among the two.

Big losses to the standard in the region. The youth also have warned that they will impound Newspapers from vendors if the Standard continues with their dispute against DP Ruto.
