Coast Governors meet in Wundanyi to discuss on the way forward for the regional political and economic future.
Five Governors hosted by Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja seeking to align the region as it heads to the 2022 polls.
After the meeting, Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi said the ambition for uniting the region has been availed and the governors could be talking with the same voice.
” We have come up with plans to align our region, just like other regions in terms of the 2022 economy and political stability.
” We have also talked about the Blue economy. Since its inception, the Governors have not been able to come together and share thoughts.
” This was a platform to air out and iron out our differences. We are now ready to face the battle ahead of us, ” Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi said on the side talks.
The meeting comes after Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho declared to contest the top seat through ODM ticket.
They also discussed on BBI. They agreed to allow the public to participate before the county assemblies vote on the document.
Governor Joho said the move to unify the coastal leadership has to begin with the top leadership.
” We have come to show others the way. We also deliberated on having a coastal based Political party as a bargaining power at the top.
” We are looking for welcoming more ideas before we jump-start the Political rebirth at the region, ” Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho added while heading to the county Taita Taveta county offices.
