This week, the UEFA Nations League starts back up with a match between Poland and the Netherlands at the Stadion Narodowy. This is a League A/Group 4 match.
Most of the major European competitions have been suspended during this time.
The Dutch will be eager to increase their lead at the top of the group with a win here on Thursday night, while the hosts will want to make up lost ground.
In this four-nation group, which also includes Wales at the bottom and the Netherlands, Belgium, and Wales, Poland is in third place, but recently, the Poles haven’t done themselves any favours.
They have lost against the Belgians both at home and away, falling to them 6-1 on the road and then 1-0 in their most recent match against the Red Devils.
Poland started this new Nations League season well with a 2-1 home victory over Wales.
With a respectable 2-2 draw away from home against Thursday’s visitors, the Netherlands, the hosts have increased their lead by just one point.
Only two of Poland’s last seven home games in the Nations League have resulted in victories and only four of their previous ten home games overall.
As of matchday 5 of this competition, the Netherlands lead Group 4 by three points over second-placed Belgium because the visitors are still unbeaten after the first four games of the group stage.
The Dutch got off to a great start in this new Nations League season with victories over Wales 2-1 and Belgium 4-1, both of which came away from home.
Now, thanks to a 2-2 draw at home against Poland and a 3-2 home victory over Wales, the Netherlands appear to be in a strong position to advance this season.
