Christophe Galtier, head coach of the Paris team, said, “They made it tough for us, but our full-backs might have played a more important role in the game.

“Bayern had a strong first half and deserved to score when they did since they played well for the first 60 minutes of the game. But, we then had a stretch of 25 minutes in which we were much better, got in behind, and enhanced our link-up play. It came down to the smallest of margins in the end.”

The head coach of Paris, Christophe Galtier, spoke with Canal+ and added, “Clearly, there is cause for sadness. Nonetheless, we were all aware that tonight would not result in anybody qualifying or being eliminated.

“Bayern put pressure on us when we were lacking in depth. I had a sneaking suspicion that if we continued to play like that, without depth and without verticality, the first half would be extremely difficult for us. Sadly, they scored just as I was about to throw Mbappé into the game.”
