His confrontation with netizens initial started after he exhibited indications of switching from the gospel industry where he found his fame. 

Further, after fully announcing his request for secular music, Willy Paul encountered a rough scape with netizens. 

 He was repeatedly humiliated even by colleague celebrities who usually condemned him of backsliding from salvation.

However, he opened up.  Musician Willy Paul finally broke the news with regards to his quit from the gospel industry.
