Zanzibar Electoral Commission declares Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi duly elected President

ZANZIBAR electoral Commission declares Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, son of the second president of Tanzania, duly elected President with 76.27pc of votes cast. 

Chairman of Zanzibar electoral commission former Chief Justice Hamid Mahamoud Hamid declared Dr Mwinyi as duly elected President of Zanzibar. 

Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous part of Tanzania. Zanzibar has its own government, known as the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar. 

It is made up of the Revolutionary Council and House of Representatives. 

Tanzania mainland has its President and he heads the United Republic of Tanzania which includes (Zanzibar and Pemba island) and Tanzania mainland.
