From accusation to appreciation? President William Ruto applauds the Ford Foundation’s commitment to safeguarding Kenya’s democracy and global calls for reforms.
President William Ruto had previously called out the Ford Foundation for funding, causing anarchy in Kenya.
However, President Ruto meets the Ford Foundation boss and thanks him for supporting Kenyan democracy, among other activities in the country.
President William Ruto said, “Kenya appreciates the Ford Foundation’s commitment to safeguarding our democracy and supporting Kenya’s calls for reforms in the global economic institutions, climate action, and modern technology regulation.
“Held talks with the President of the Ford Foundation, Darren Walker, in New York.”
Kenyans took to social media, condemning the president for double speaking.
“Ayee, the same Ford foundation ulisema wana destabilise the country? Ama wamesema usiposema hivi hatupewi loan,” @MrRightKE reacted on X.
“I thought you said that Ford Foundation is the financier of ANARCHISTS (Gen Z protests) in Kenya? OR are you suffering from selective amnesia?” @Ldegaire posted on X.
“Hypocrite you, President. Are you not the one who accused the Ford Foundation of sponsoring protests? Now you’re appreciating them?” @brianpeter posted on X.
“King of double speak. You claimed the Ford Foundation was sponsoring demonstrations in Kenya the other day. Today, you are saying the safeguard democracy in Kenya. You’re either always lying or mentally ill. I think you’re both!” Wahinya Charlie posted on Facebook.
