Meg Whitman resigns, succumbs to Kenyans pressure online

Only a few days after Donald Trump’s election as the 47th President of the United States of America, Meg Whitman, the United States Ambassador to Kenya, tendered her resignation from her position on Wednesday, November 13.

Her time in Kenya has been marked by moments that felt more like a stand up routine than diplomacy.

After relentless pressure from Kenyans on social media, she finally steps down.

During the course of her announcement of her retirement, Whitman disclosed that she had already sent over her resignation letter to Joe Biden, the Vice President of the United States.

In addition, Meg Whitman went on to describe her position as the United States ambassador as an “honor and pleasure,” and she said that the United States was able to improve its connection with Kenya while she was serving in that capacity.

“The United States government places a high priority on the health and welfare of our neighbors in Kenya,” read a portion of Whitman’s statement.

“This includes the provision of emergency financing to mitigate devastating floods in 2023 as well as the continued eradication of malaria, HIV, and MPOX.”

One of the other noteworthy accomplishments noted by the United States ambassador to Kenya was the move by the Joe Biden administration to elevate Kenya as its first significant non-NATO partner in sub-Saharan Africa.

“The accomplishments represented the significance of both nations’ capacity to stand for each other and safeguard the shared democratic ideals and greater security,” said Whitman.

“The results reflected the two countries’ ability to stand for each other.”

“Because of our efforts, trade, employment, and investment from the United States in Kenya have reached all-time highs. We have reacted to the growing demand for our consular services by lowering the wait periods for appointments for nonimmigrant visas from more than two years to around two months,” Whitman noted.

At the same time that she was highlighting the importance of her accomplishments in Kenya, Meg Whitman said that President Joe Biden had requested that she serve in the nation.

While expressing confidence in the continuing collaboration between the United States and Kenya, the United States ambassador also took advantage of the chance to offer her congratulations to the new President of the United States, Donald Trump.

According to what Whitman stated, “Our embassy benefits from highly competent Kenyan and American staff who will continue their efforts under the guidance of Chargé d’Affaires Marc Dillard to achieve the common objectives on which our bilateral relationship has been founded for a long time.”

Mother and joyful journalist.
