Stade Reims seal deal signing Malcolm Jeng from IK Sirius

Stade Reims have finalized an agreement to sign the 2005-born central defender Malcolm Jeng from IK Sirius for a transfer fee of €3 million.

This deal comes in the wake of Reims selling their defender Emmanuel Agbadou, indicating a strategic move to replace him with young talent.

Malcolm Jeng, born on March 9, 2005, in Sweden, is a young football player who has made significant strides in his career path as a centre-back.

Malcolm Jeng stats

Jeng began his football journey at IFK Haninge, his home club. At the age of 16, he moved to IK Sirius in 2021, where he continued his development.

After spending some time on the bench during the initial matches of the 2023 Allsvenskan season, Jeng made his professional debut for IK Sirius on April 29, 2023, against AIK.

This debut was facilitated by an injury to another player, allowing Jeng to come on as a substitute in a match that ended in a 0-0 draw.

His performances in the Allsvenskan led to a significant contract extension with IK Sirius in July 2023, signing a five-year deal that would keep him at the club until June 2028.

Jeng has represented Sweden at youth levels, including the U19 and P18 teams. He made his debut for the Swedish U18 team in June 2023 and later for the P20 team in August 2024.

Market Value and Interest: His market value has been noted at around €1.5 million, reflecting his growing reputation.

There was interest from Dutch club Vitesse shortly after he signed his long-term contract with Sirius, and more recently, there have been moves towards a transfer to Stade Reims in France for a fee of €3 million, which appears to be in the final stages as of early January 2025.

The transfer to Stade Reims is part of a strategy following the sale of another defender, Emmanuel Agbadou, from Reims. This move indicates Jeng’s rising profile in European football, moving from the Swedish league to Ligue 1 in France.

Throughout his short career, Jeng has shown promise with his defensive capabilities, left-footedness, and an ability to adapt and learn quickly at higher levels of football.

His journey from youth football in Sweden to potentially playing in one of Europe’s top leagues highlights his rapid development and the high regard in which he’s held by clubs scouting for young talent.
