Mystery Surrounds Scottish Businessman’s Death in Kenya as Post-Mortem Remains Inconclusive.
A post-mortem examination on Campbell Scott, a Scottish businessman found dead in Kenya, has failed to determine the exact cause of death, according to reports.
Mr. Scott, 58, was discovered bound with ropes in a sack of pineapples in a forest 60 miles (96.5 km) from Nairobi, days after he was reported missing from his hotel on February 17. Kenya’s homicide unit is treating the case as murder.
Investigation and Arrests
Two individuals have been arrested, but local reports indicate that the injuries on Mr. Scott’s body were too minor to have directly caused his death.
Kenya’s chief government pathologist, Johansen Odour, stated that Mr. Scott sustained head trauma and multiple soft tissue injuries but noted that they were not severe enough to be fatal.
Authorities have collected samples for further analysis, including toxicology tests, to determine the cause of death.
Last Known Movements
Before his disappearance, Mr Scott was reportedly seen at a nightclub in Nairobi with an unidentified man, whom police consider a prime suspect.
A taxi driver and a nightclub waiter are currently in custody and have assisted police in locating a house in the Pipeline district on Nairobi’s outskirts, where the suspect allegedly took Mr Scott.
Business Trip & Disappearance
Hailing from Dunfermline, Fife, Mr Scott was a senior director at credit scoring firm Fico and had travelled to Kenya for a conference at the JW Marriott Hotel in Nairobi.
He was scheduled to deliver a presentation on February 17, but he never returned to his hotel. Concerned colleagues filed a missing person report after being unable to contact him.
Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death.
