Three individuals, Elisha Otieno, Edgar Odhiambo, and Ian Abong’o, have been arrested following their efforts to expose an alleged scandal involving the Woodley Ward Stadium project.
The trio is said to have linked the area’s Member of the County Assembly (MCA) to a series of misappropriations of public funds, sparking controversy in the region.
According to sources, the arrests stem from their outspoken criticism of the stalled stadium construction, which was reportedly scheduled to begin on November 8, 2023, and conclude by April 22, 2024.
As of March 2025, no visible progress has been made on the project, raising questions about the allocation and use of public resources.
The three activists are said to have demanded accountability from the MCA, accusing them of mismanaging funds intended for the development.
Police are yet to release an official statement regarding the arrests, but sources indicate that Otieno and Abong’o are currently being held at Kibra Police Station, with Odhiambo’s whereabouts unspecified.
Sources allege that the arrests were carried out by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers, reportedly acting under the influence of the Woodley Ward MCA.
The incident has ignited public outcry on social media, with calls for the unconditional release of the three individuals and renewed scrutiny of local governance in Woodley Ward.
This is why Elisha Otieno, Edgar Odhiambo and Ian Abong'o have been arrested.
