Police are searching for a Chinese national identified as Wang Zemin, who is accused of threatening to kill his former girlfriend following a dispute over Ksh 17 million.
The woman, who has two children with him, told officers at Kilimani police station that she sent him the money for business, but he misused it after travelling to Tanzania.
She said Zemin had initially promised to divorce his wife in China and marry her, but he later changed his position and refused to provide for child upkeep.
Investigators believe he has been moving between China Centre, Westlands, and Kilimani to evade arrest, and efforts are underway to track him down before he leaves the country.
The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, reported the alleged threats to authorities at Kilimani Police Station, sparking an urgent search for the suspect.
According to police reports, the conflict arose when the woman, who shares two children with Wang, sent him the substantial sum of money.
Details of the transaction remain unclear, but the situation escalated when Wang allegedly responded with violent threats, vowing to take her life.
The complainant told officers that she fears for her safety and that of her children, prompting swift action from law enforcement.
Kilimani Police Commander Joseph Ole Narik confirmed that officers are actively pursuing leads to locate Wang, who is believed to still be in the country.
“We are treating this matter with the seriousness it deserves,” Narik said. “Threats to life are a grave offense, and we are working to ensure the safety of the complainant while bringing the suspect to justice.”
The case has drawn attention amid growing concerns over domestic disputes involving foreign nationals in Kenya.
