A sad event happened in Rongai on Monday, March 31, 2025. Geoffrey Ouma, a boda boda rider from Rongai, was reportedly stabbed to death by his wife after an argument at home.
According to police, the fight started when the rider returned home with less money than usual. This led to a heated argument that became very serious.
The victim was a 32-year-old man who was known in the community for his work. Neighbours heard loud voices coming from their house late in the evening before things got out of control.
During the argument, the wife, whose name has not been shared yet, picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed her husband several times in the chest.
Neighbour said, “When she asked for more, he explained that the rain had prevented him from working as usual, resulting in a lower income that day.
“Angered, his wife listed the household expenses that were overdue. She demanded money one last time, and he told her that he had brought everything.
“In a fit of rage, she went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife. When he saw her approaching with the weapon, he tried to run away but tripped and fell.”
His wife stabbed him in the chest, and he died instantly in the house.
Emergency services arrived shortly after 9 p.m., but the rider was declared dead when he got to the hospital because he had lost a lot of blood.
The police have arrested the wife, and they are investigating the murder.
Early reports suggest that money problems may have been an ongoing issue for the couple, but officials have not confirmed the reason for the fight yet.
People in the neighbourhood were very shocked by this incident. They described the couple as usually quiet.
“He was a hard-working man, always driving people around. It’s hard to believe it ended like this,” said James Kariuki, a fellow boda boda rider.
