Maria Wangari Kamunge, a TikTok personality known as ‘Rish’, was recently arrested. She is accused of running a fake job scam through her company, called Trust Pin Verified Agency Ltd.
This scam tricked job seekers into paying between Ksh 200,000 and Ksh 300,000 with promises of jobs abroad that weren’t real.
She supposedly ran this scam from offices in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Nakuru, but all those offices are now closed.
Even though she has been released on a Ksh 5 million bond and there are ongoing investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Employment Authority (NEA), Kamunge continues to collect job applications on TikTok using a new account.
More and more victims are coming forward to share their stories and ask for help.
In a recent live session on TikTok, she surprised viewers by saying that she is selling some of her personal belongings, including a spa and a college space in Nairobi that she is offering for Ksh 2.5 million.
However, she did not explain why she is in such a hurry to sell these assets.
