Chelsea Football Club has announced that Brazilian star Estêvão Willian will officially join the team starting tomorrow, June 3, 2025.
The 18-year-old winger, who was playing for Palmeiras, has completed his long-awaited move to the Premier League team after an agreement was made last year.
Estêvão, whose full name is Estêvão Willian Almeida de Oliveira Gonçalves, was signed by Chelsea in June 2024 for €34 million (around $37 million). If he meets certain performance goals, the total cost could go up to €67 million, according to ESPN.
The transfer was completed after Estêvão turned 18 in April 2025, allowing him to join the club this summer, as mentioned on Wikipedia.
Estêvão is often compared to famous players like Lionel Messi and Pelé because of his skills in dribbling, creativity, and scoring goals.
He shared his excitement about joining Chelsea earlier this year on a show hosted by Denílson, saying, “All the time, I’m very anxious to go,” when asked about his move.
He made his first professional game for Palmeiras at just 16 years and 8 months, becoming the fourth-youngest player in the club’s history, and scored his first senior goal in a 3–1 victory over Liverpool during the 2024 Copa Libertadores group stage.
Chelsea fans are eager to see Estêvão play, and the club is also close to signing another player, Liam Delap, who recently started his medical check-up, as reported by The Standard.
Estêvão’s arrival is part of Chelsea’s plan to invest in young talent from around the world as they work to strengthen their team for the upcoming season.
