I can still clearly recall their statement that I would never be able to walk again. I had just woken up in a hospital bed on a chilly morning, my legs totally numb and wearing a neck brace. My spine had been broken in a vehicle accident. Nothing could have prepared me for hearing a doctor say, “You’ll have to accept that you may never walk again,” even though I had long feared losing my mobility.
I was 29 years old, vivacious, and full of dreams. Together with my closest buddy, I intended to launch a modest wellness company. We had even found a place. But everything changed two weeks before the launch. My spirit was crushed, and my body was shattered in an instant. I endured months of physiotherapy, medicine, injections, and a rotating cast of doctors during my recuperation.
