How her gift at baby shower prolonged my labour to 4 days

Everything appeared so ideal on that day, as I recall it. At my baby shower, I was eight months pregnant, giddy with happiness, and surrounded by people I loved—friends, relatives, and coworkers. With gifts stacked high and laughter reverberating around the home, I recall thinking, “This baby is already so loved.” However, I was unaware that one of those presents would nearly break the bank.

A lovely hand-stitched baby blanket and a little beaded bracelet that was intended to be put around the newborn’s ankle “for protection” were two of the many gifts that stood out. Sandra, a relative I wasn’t really close to but had invited out of duty to the family, was the source. She said that a traditional craftsman had created it for her, and it was exquisitely delicate and well-considered. I really thanked her. In retrospect, I regret not following my instincts.
