I’m Beatrice Maanzo from Kibwezi, and although what I’m going to tell still seems like a screenplay, it’s all true. Like many of us, I’ve worked hard for all I own, and I live on a farm in the country. I was so horrified to see my granary smashed into, my water tank gone, and agricultural implements taken when I got up one morning.
I initially believed it to be a one-time robbery by a random individual. However, two weeks later, further items disappeared, including two bags of beans, a brand-new sprayer, and my solar battery. The fact that the robbers left no evidence behind startled me much more. They seemed to have disappeared into thin air.
I informed the local police and the village elder about the situation. After we filed a report, some police officers came to my compound. However, nothing emerged from it. Weeks passed, and I became increasingly frustrated… CONTINUE READING
