I used to think that luck just wasn’t on my side. For more than five years, I spent a lot of time gambling with sports betting, lottery tickets, scratch cards—anything you could think of. And for five years, I lost every time.
Each time I believed I had the right guess or the perfect lucky numbers, something would go wrong. It became a frustrating habit, one I kept secret from my family and friends because I was embarrassed.
There were times when I almost won, like when a game turned during the last minute or a lottery ticket missed the jackpot by just one number. It felt like the universe was making fun of me.
Even so, I couldn’t stop. I thought that one big win would change everything for me. But every ticket I bought and every bet I made ended up wasted.
Things got worse when I started borrowing money to keep gambling. I kept telling myself, “I’ll pay them back when I win big,” but that win never happened.
