All wrongs will be corrected! Gachagua tell allies after series of teargas

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked his supporters to stay strong after they were teargassed during a rally in Gilgil, Nakuru County, on Saturday.

In a message after the event, Gachagua, who is currently visiting the United States for a month, said that when they win the country’s leadership in 2027, they will fix everything that is wrong.

He assured his team that they will make the government better, saying that even though the current government is against them, their determination has only become stronger.

Gachagua praised his supporters for their hard work, reminding them that the people of Kenya are watching. He said, “Even though this government acts in cowardly ways, our strength and determination shine brighter than ever.

“It is always darkest before dawn. We will correct the wrongs and bring back good leadership. Keep doing great work. The people of Kenya support us,” Gachagua expressed.

He also mentioned that the fear of what might happen is leading the country towards a situation where there is more control and fear, which is becoming common.

The team, led by Nyandarua Senator John Methu, has been going to important towns in the Mt Kenya region to gather support for a united opposition while Gachagua is away.

In a post on X, Methu said that the police “once again stopped our peaceful meeting in Gilgil town.” He shared pictures showing people running as security officers surrounded the politicians’ cars during a chaotic situation filled with tear gas.

“You can use tear gas against us, but we will not give up. #WanTam,” he added with determination.

Methu and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka have continued the “WanTam” campaign, promising to block President William Ruto’s bid for re-election.

Gachagua is in the US with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, where they are meeting with Kenyans living abroad as part of their early efforts to gain support for the 2027 presidential election.
