A family’s betrayal evokes a pain that surpasses the intensity of a knife. It’s possible for strangers, neighbours, and coworkers to hurt you, but when it comes from your own blood, the wounds will never heal.

I discovered this through personal experience. I couldn’t figure out why my life was stuck for years. I worked diligently, went to school, and was regimented, but nothing I did ever worked out. I was always turned down for jobs, businesses I tried to start would fail within months, and even in relationships, I was always dumped and made to feel poor about myself.

My younger brother, who was never serious about life, kept going up. He didn’t have a degree, but he drove fancy cars. Even though he didn’t have a real business, he always had money.
