‘Spirit of a witch’ Kentucky Woman Tests Churches’ Seeking Baby Formula

Nikalie Monroe from Kentucky has taken TikTok by storm with a bunch of videos where she calls different religious organisations to find out if they can help feed a starving baby.

Nikalie Monroe has been reaching out to churches, explaining that she’s run out of formula for her two-month-old baby and asking if they could help her find some food.

Several churches have stepped up and are willing to help out, even though the request was just a test. On the flip side, there are some churches that have chosen not to lend a hand.

On October 31, Monroe shared a video where she called a church in Kentucky to ask for baby formula. Since then, she’s shared 37 videos where she calls churches in different states, asking for formula to see how they respond.

Monroe began creating these videos and running a kind of social experiment during a time when a lot of people in the U.S. are having a tough time putting food on the table, whether for themselves or their kids, due to cuts to SNAP benefits.

On November 7, Monroe shared a video where she called the Living Faith Christian Centre, which is a church located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Monroe kicks off the video by saying, “I’m calling Living Faith Christian Centre in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.” How about we give them a call and see if they can help out with feeding a hungry baby?

“While I’m waiting for the church to pick up, I hear a recording of a crying baby playing in the background.

When the church answers, Monroe says, “I was hoping you all could help with some baby formula. I have a two-month-old, and we ran out last night. I just need a small can since she’s gone all day and all night.”

Monroe talks to the first person who picks up the call at the church, and then they pass her along to someone else. She shares her dilemma with that person. “Looks like we don’t have any formula around, sweetheart. I’m afraid I don’t have any. We don’t have any nappies or baby stuff,” the person in the queue said.

“Is that something you guys could grab, and I can just swing by to pick it up?” Monroe gives it another shot. “Not at the moment, sorry.” “I’m sorry,” the person said, and that was the end of the call.

A pastor from Baton Rouge is calling out a woman who’s been posting TikToks asking churches for baby formula to see how they respond, saying it’s just wrong.

Living Faith Christian Centre in Baton Rouge, found at 6375 Winbourne Ave., is headed by its founder and pastor, Bishop Raymond W. Johnson. During a sermon on Sunday, Johnson addressed Monroe’s viral video.

“There’s this person who calls up churches and plays a recording of a baby crying in the background.” I mean, honestly, that person is just not great. So, you know, I teach these guys here, and folks just want to say sorry. I won’t say sorry to the devil.

“Sometimes it feels like Christians forget that we’re meant to stand up against evil and not back down. “So, if you could just act like you have a crying baby to try to call churches and pull a fast one on people,” Johnson said about Monroe’s phone call and video during his sermon.

Johnson mentions that Living Faith has provided food for thousands, but the church doesn’t really promote that fact.

The pastor mentioned that the staff often digs into their own pockets, and he’s even used his own credit card to help women with kids who were in tough situations and had no place to stay.

“So I’m thinking, while we’re in the middle of feeding people, how are you going to pull off your little dirty deed?” So, you know, it’s really all about the vibe of a witch. It’s a witch, huh?

And my Bible says he doesn’t let that thing live. So, you really need to be careful when you’re messing around with God,” Johnson comes back to criticise Monroe’s experiment.
