I’m Kevin Otieno, and this story takes place in a quiet little neighbourhood in Siaya Town, right off Nyang’oma Road. It was just an ordinary Sunday, but man, my stomach was in knots the whole morning. After loving Faith from afar for two whole years, I was finally going to meet her folks.

I showed up with a simple gift bag – some maize flour, sugar, and tea leaves. That’s what I could manage on my salary as a junior tech guy fixing avionics stuff at a local workshop. Faith met me at the gate, looking as anxious as I felt. “Just relax and be you,” she murmured. I tried, but my hands wouldn’t stop shaking.
