Wavinya Ndeti: Only Kalonzo Has Experience to Lead Kenya Now

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has fully endorsed Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as the sole politician in Kenya currently possessing proven experience to guide the country, asserting that no other contender can match his track record in national leadership.

Speaking during a funds drive at Kathekani Market in Makueni County on Sunday afternoon, the former Chief Administrative Secretary quoted Kalonzo directly while rallying thousands of supporters to unite behind him ahead of 2027. “Hakuna mtu hii Kenya sahi ako na experience ya kuongoza Kenya kama Kalonzo Musyoka. He has been vice president, he has run for president, he has chaired cabinet sub-committees, and he has mediated peace across Africa. Who else has that CV?” Wavinya asked as the crowd roared in approval.

She went on to reveal a recent conversation with the Wiper boss in which Kalonzo confidently told her that a solid alliance between his Wiper party, Raila Odinga’s ODM and the Democratic Congress Party (DCP) of Mwengi Mutuse would completely lock President William Ruto out of victory. “Imagine tushkanishe DCP, Wiper na ODM, Ruto atapitia wapi?” Wavinya quoted Kalonzo as saying, sending the crowd into wild laughter and chants of “Kalonzo Tosha”.

The Machakos governor further disclosed that recent independent opinion polls commissioned by Wiper place Kalonzo far ahead of all other potential Azimio flag-bearers. “That is why you have started hearing talk of 50+1. They know very well we will not even reach there because Baba will be in State House before the second round,” she said, in reference to Kalonzo’s promise that their coalition will win outright in the first round.

Several local leaders present, including Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo and Kitui Rural MP David Mboni, echoed Wavinya’s sentiments and pledged to mobilise the entire Ukambani region behind Kalonzo. Maendeleo Chap Chap. They argued that the Kamba community cannot afford to play second fiddle again after supporting other candidates in previous elections.

Political analyst Mutua Kakui told journalists on the sidelines that Wavinya’s open endorsement marks the beginning of a well-choreographed campaign to crown Kalonzo as the undisputed Azimio flag-bearer. “She is sending a clear message to Eugene Wamalwa, Martha Karua and Peter Munya that the numbers and experience are on Kalonzo’s side. The ground is shifting fast,” Kakui observed.

The event raised over Ksh12 million for the construction of Kathekani Secondary School laboratories, with Governor Wavinya personally contributing Ksh3 million and promising monthly visits to monitor progress. Attendees left the venue wearing new Wiper-branded caps bearing the slogan “2027 ni Kalonzo Tosha” as boda bodas ferried the message across Makueni and Machakos counties.

With exactly 19 months to the next General Election, today’s strong statement from Wavinya Ndeti has firmly placed Kalonzo Musyoka back at the centre of Kenya’s presidential conversation and signalled that the race for the Azimio ticket is now effectively a one-horse affair.
