Celebrity Barber Kitiki Sam Reveals Emotional Cancer Update

Kenyan barber and celebrity stylist Samuel Kilonzo, popularly known as Kitiki Sam, has shared a heartfelt update on his ongoing battle with stage three stomach cancer. In a post on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, the Mombasa-based influencer opened up about the heavy emotional and physical toll the illness has taken.

He described days when pain and uncertainty overwhelm him, affecting not just his health but also his peace of mind and finances. The message touched many fans who have followed his journey since he first revealed the diagnosis in March 2025.

Kitiki Sam rose to fame through his barbershop in Mombasa, where he styled high-profile clients like musician Masauti. His tall frame and cheerful personality made him a favourite. Videos of his work and daily life built a strong online following.

But cancer changed everything. He first went public from St Scholastica Ulinzi Hospital, saying he needed urgent surgery costing KSh145,000. “I have been admitted since Monday and am due for surgery tomorrow,” he wrote then. “Kindly help.” The plea reached his clients and fans, who sent support. Masauti was among those he thanked personally.

The surgery happened, followed by chemotherapy. Kitiki moved to Nairobi to live with his sister for better access to treatment. He stopped working as his body grew weaker. Weight loss became visible in photos. Fatigue set in constantly.

In his latest post, he wrote, “Some days, the pain is louder than my voice. Battling GIST cancer has taken more from me than I ever imagined.” GIST is a rare stomach cancer that starts in digestive tract cells. Treatment includes surgery, chemo, and sometimes targeted drugs. Recovery varies, but side effects like tiredness hit hard.

Kitiki spoke about mental strain too. Constant hospital visits, medication costs, and not knowing what comes next weigh on him. “The mental exhaustion feels just as painful as the physical illness,” he said. Financial stability slipped away with no income from the barbershop. He has relied on family and public help since the start.

Fans responded with care. Messages flooded his pages. “Stay strong, bro. We are praying,” one read. Others shared stories of relatives with cancer. Some sent mobile money for support.

The post spread on Facebook and Instagram. It reminded many of health struggles in Kenya, where cancer cases rise but treatment costs stay high.

Kitiki’s openness stands out. He has shared updates before, like after chemo sessions. This one felt raw. He admitted reaching breaking points but held onto hope. No specific ask for money this time, just sharing the reality.

In Mombasa, where he built his name, people remember his energy. Clients miss the chats and perfect fades. The barbershop runs quieter now. Kitiki focused on healing in Nairobi.

Cancer support groups in Kenya noted his story. They say public figures speaking out reduces stigma. More men seek early checks because of voices like his.

Kitiki thanked supporters in past posts. He mentioned faith keeping him going. The journey continues with treatment. Fans hope for better days.

This update shows the human side of illness. Kitiki Sam remains a familiar face to many. Prayers and well-wishes keep coming. Health matters to all. Stories like his remind us to check on loved ones.
